Welcome

COVID 19 Foodbank Update 25 March 2020

The Sawtry Foodbank will be open this Friday, but we are running a delivery only service. Please do not come to the CARESCO Centre to collect a parcel.

Please get in touch with us via email or telephone if you have a voucher and require a parcel for this Friday.

Telephone: 07743593863 / Email: foodbank@caresco.org.uk

We must stress that this service is strictly for people who are in a financial crisis. There are specific criteria, which we will be following to make sure that this service is not abused.

Virtual referrals can be done via Sawtry Infant School, Sawtry Junior School, and Sawtry Village Academy, as well as the Reverend Becky Dyball of All Saints and the Sawtry Community Centre.

A list of voucher holders will be published on our social media in due course.

For more help, please contact us.

We are working really hard behind the scenes to keep this service operational throughout the COVID-19 crisis. We have been overwhelmed by the support from our community and local businesses. To all our supporters, we can’t thank you enough.

COVID 19 General Update 24th March 2020

We are dealing with many vulnerable and elderly in our community. Following the recent Government guidelines, we have suspended most of our activities and clubs. Therefore, the Green End and Alconbury Thursday Clubs, Chatterbox and Sounds Good groups, the Car Scheme, Sawtry Man Cave, Coffee Shop and our Charity Shop will be closed until further notice.

However, we will be publishing the April-May Sawtry Eye as usual, though there may be a delay in distribution. We thank our readers for their understanding in these difficult times.

Our members, volunteers and staff remain of paramount importance to us and we will therefore be creating an in-house support network to maintain contact with and provide support for them while we are closed.

Our members, volunteers and staff remain of paramount importance to us and we will therefore be creating an in-house support network to maintain contact with and provide support for them at this difficult time.

Our intention is to keep the Foodbank service open, stock and volunteer numbers allowing. All donations of basic food items or money are very welcome.

Please bear with us as we reduce our volunteering levels and implement some new strategies in the organisation to cope with these new guidelines.

Many thanks for your continued support and we hope to be back up and running as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we will be responding to messages as best we can.

CARESCO is a unique charity based in the village of Sawtry, near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, which exists to serve the local community.

Under the CARESCO umbrella are a number of services offered to our local community, including our Green End Day Club and Thursday Club, our Man Cave, our Friday drop-in cafe, our carers support group, a music-based social group, a Christmas Day party and our charity shop which helps to fund our activities.

In partnership with other organisations we also host the local foodbank (working with the local churches) and the village car scheme (working with Cambs County Council).

CARESCO also edits and publishes the popular Sawtry Eye magazine.

Most of our services are run from our own purpose-built CARESCO Centre in the heart of the village.
