Enjoying all things musical and the spoken word
COVID 19 Update - 29/01/21
While we remain under a national lockdown, we will continue to suspend most of our activities until further notice. However, we will continue to run the Sawtry Foodbank, the Sawtry Covid Response Team, and the Sawtry Eye magazine.
The government's guidelines for lockdown are now in place to control the number of Covid cases. We can all do our bit to stop Covid in its tracks and help bring virus levels down. Approximately 1 in 3 people who have coronavirus have no symptoms and could be spreading it without realising it.
Remember - ‘Hands. Face. Space.’
Don’t spread the virus. Protect our loved ones, the most vulnerable in our communities and the NHS to help us get back to the things we love sooner.
CARESCO continues to manage the local volunteer Sawtry Covid Response Team who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to support local people during lockdown and the ongoing restrictions. For details of the amazing service they have been providing, you can click here to see some of the stats involved from the end of March 2020 until August 2020. Thank you to this amazing team.

The Sawtry Eye magazine for February - March 21 has been published as usual and delivered house-to-house in the normal way. The Eye is also available to download from the Sawtry Eye page along with back issues to October 2008.

Our Sounds Good group is available for anyone who enjoys music in any form, or the spoken word. The group meets twice a month on the 2nd & 4th Friday from 1.30 - 3pm in the CARESCO Centre. Those who attend have a wide range of abilities, the important factor is that they all get pleasure from sharing together. Over time, the group have experienced various sessions, from sharing a favourite track to a sing-a-long session from one of the musicals, from having a go on a range of musical instruments to enjoying a sounds based quiz. They have also shared favourite poems and prose and even read some of their own creations.
Sessions are either led by group members or guests on a rolling programme agreed by the group. The atmosphere is very relaxed and all levels of ability and knowledge are represented. Each afternoon finishes off with a social time over refreshments.
There is a charge of £2 per session to cover costs
