Enjoying all things musical and the spoken word

COVID 19 Update - 04/12/20

As we have now moved into tier two following lockdown #2, only some of our activities are currently running. These include the Sawtry Foodbank, the Sawtry Covid Response Team, the Sawtry Car Scheme, the Green End Day Club and the Sawtry Eye magazine.

The government's guidelines for tier two are now in place in Huntingdonshire to control the number of Covid cases. We can all do our bit to stop Covid in its tracks and help bring virus levels down.

  • Reduce all non- essential contact with people you don't live with
  • Stay home as much as possible – except for education, exercise and essential shopping
  • Work from home where you can
  • Where you can't work from home – be even more Covid-secure (keep your distance, wash your hands, wear a face covering)

Don’t spread the virus. Protect our loved ones, the most vulnerable in our communities and the NHS to help us get back to the things we love sooner.

CARESCO continues to manage the local volunteer Sawtry Covid Response Team who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to support local people during lockdown and the ongoing restrictions. From the end of March until August 2020, they have provided an amazing service, click here for more details.

Sawtry Foodbank is continuing to serve those who need the support. They can be contacted on 07743 593863 or emailed at .

The Sawtry Eye magazine for December 20 - January 21 has been published as usual and delivered house-to-house in the normal way. The Eye is also available to download from the Sawtry Eye page along with back issues to October 2008.

For all other general enquiries, please contact us or leave a message on the office answerphone 01487 832105 and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding

Our Sounds Good group is available for anyone who enjoys music in any form, or the spoken word. The group meets twice a month on the 2nd & 4th Friday from 1.30 - 3pm in the CARESCO Centre. Those who attend have a wide range of abilities, the important factor is that they all get pleasure from sharing together. Over time, the group have experienced various sessions, from sharing a favourite track to a sing-a-long session from one of the musicals, from having a go on a range of musical instruments to enjoying a sounds based quiz. They have also shared favourite poems and prose and even read some of their own creations.

Sessions are either led by group members or guests on a rolling programme agreed by the group. The atmosphere is very relaxed and all levels of ability and knowledge are represented. Each afternoon finishes off with a social time over refreshments.

There is a charge of £2 per session to cover costs
