Alconbury Thursday Club

COVID 19 Update - 31/07/20

Please continue to follow current government guidelines and together we can beat this!

We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert. This means you must:

  • Stay at home as much as possible
  • Work from home if you can
  • Limit contact with other people
  • Keep your distance if you have to go out – (2 metres apart where possible)
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Do not leave home if you, or anyone within your household, has symptoms.

In line with current government guidance (at time of writing) and until further notice, the Green End Day Club, Alconbury Thursday Club, the Chatterbox and Sounds Good groups, the Sawtry Car Scheme, Sawtry Man Cave and the weekly Coffee Shop will remain closed.

We are delighted to announce that our Charity Shop reopened on Monday 22nd June. Please note our new procedures for both making donations and also when shopping to help keep everyone safe. Please call 01487 208026 to book in your donation.

The Thursday Club meets in the Alconbury Sports and Social Club where the members can enjoy a beautiful traditional English view of a village cricket pitch with the village church in the background. The Club is run by two members of staff and a team of volunteers and is open from 9.30am - 2.30pm each Thursday.

Started in 1984, the Thursday Club serves the villages surrounding the Alconburys, South of Sawtry, and is staffed and managed by people from those villages. Meals are cooked on site.

The Club members enjoy a wide range of activities which include entertainers coming in from time to time to sing or play. The committee also organise a number of coach outings each year to a variety of suitable places for a meal.

Although the Thursday Club does not meet in the CARESCO Centre, they are still very much part of CARESCO and receive their support through the main organisation.
