Sawtry Sport 4 All

Free Annual Community Sports Event

Date for your diary: ** SS4A 2022 - Saturday 9th July **

CARESCO is proud to be a partner organisation in Sawtry Sport 4 All, helping to organise this amazing day for our local community. Working closely with our friends at Sawtry Walk to Run, we launched the first SS4A day in July 2019 and welcomed over 1000 people to the event. Sadly cancelled due the pandemic in 2020, we were back again in September 2021 with our second event.

The aim behind the day is to facilitate a big community event, pulling together local sports clubs, groups and classes to provide a wide range of activities giving visitors a taster and an opportunity to get involved. Thanks to funding from National Lottery Community Fund and Persimmon Homes, the first two events have been provided free of charge, making the day accessible to everyone. There are no stalls or fundraising activities at the event, and to help the environment and avoid waste, the only refreshments made available are free drinks - as long as visitors bring their own re-useable bottles or mugs.

The event itself takes place on the main field of Sawtry Village Academy, in Sawtry Academy Leisure Centre, in and behind the Old School Hall and in the CARESCO Centre.

Amongst the activities available at the 2021 event were large inflatables, static bikes, Sawtry's own fire engine, skateboarding/scooter sessions and traditional sports day races along with tasters from local groups including: line dancing, cricket, golf, netball, badminton, trampolining, lawn bowls, martial arts, in-door carpet bowls, football and table tennis.

Look out for details of next year's event on the Sawtry Sport 4 All website, by following them on Facebook and looking out for information in the Sawtry Eye magazine.
